I've always loved travelling and discovering new places. About eight years ago, I moved from Sri Lanka to Australia, and today I live and work in Adelaide, South Australia. But Sri Lanka has always been my home - the place where I keep returning to.
It's a small island, roughly the size of Tasmania, yet incredibly rich in natural beauty, wildlife, food, traditions, culture and more than 2,500 years of recorded history shaped by kings and kingdoms. It was only after moving away that I began to see my own country differently.
Like many people, I've experienced periods of burnout from busy schedules and corporate life. During one of those times, I started spending more time in nature, reconnecting with Sri Lanka's history and culture, and simply allowing myself to slow down.
I noticed a real difference between a holiday spent rushing from one place to another and one where you have time to actually experience where you are. The slower journey stayed with me long after I returned home. I felt calmer, more present and more connected.
That experience changed the way I think about travel. I realised that a journey doesn't have to be about seeing as much as possible. Sometimes, it's about creating enough space to truly experience where you are. Cinnamon Valley is my way of sharing that with others.
I want to help you discover the Sri Lanka I know - its people, traditions, food, history and natural beauty - while experiencing it at a pace that gives you time to connect, explore, breathe and simply be. I bring together my knowledge and connections in Sri Lanka with my understanding of life in Australia and what Australian travellers value when they travel overseas. And I hope to share with you not just a holiday in Sri Lanka, but a journey that gives something back.
